Background
SolarCity picked Buffalo in 2014 with New York State support (the Riverbend / Silevo project). Tesla inherited the unfinished factory when it bought SolarCity in 2016 and branded it Gigafactory 2. Panasonic ran solar-cell lines here from 2017 until it left in 2020. Solar Roof ramped slowly; Supercharger cabinets and related hardware later filled more of the floor. Public drone footage of this site is basically one 2017 flyover.
